Dental Services

The dental team at Magic Smiles offers a wide range of dental services for patients in and around Coffs Harbour, and Woolgoolga.

Dental Checkups

Our office recommends that patients schedule regular check-ups at intervals recommended by one of our dentists. Check-ups allow our dentists to identify early signs of dental problems before they can cause irreversible damage to your teeth and gums.

During your check-up, your dentist will perform a visual inspection of your teeth and gums using specialised dental instruments. Radiographs, including dental x-rays, may be required. If your visit includes impacted wisdom teeth, periodontitis, loose fillings, or other dental problems, these can be treated during your check-up or may require a follow-up visit.

Preventative Dentistry

Preventative treatments lower your risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health problems. Dental cleans and exams are two forms of preventative care that our surgeries offer. All three Magic Smiles locations offer fissure sealants and fluoride.

Fissure sealants are a biocompatible layer of plastic that prevents decay from forming on the surface of molar teeth. Fluoride is a natural mineral that hardens enamel.

Orthodontics

Magic Smiles is proud to have an orthodontist on staff. Orthodontists are specialists who focus on diagnosing and treating malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists do far more than correct crooked teeth for cosmetic purposes. Jaw pain and poor bite alignment issues are often caused by crooked teeth. At Magic Smiles, we offer traditional braces, clear aligner therapy, and more.

Emergency Dentistry

Oral pain, bleeding, and trauma to the teeth or gums often require immediate medical attention. Our offices welcome new patients for dental emergencies. If you are experiencing symptoms of a dental emergency, don’t wait. Postponing urgent care could lead to tooth loss or serious health risks.

Invisalign

Invisalign® aligner trays are a discreet and comfortable alternative to traditional metal braces. Our surgery works exclusively with Invisalign, the company that pioneered clear aligner technology. Patients who undergo this form of orthodontic treatment receive a series of clear trays that gradually move teeth into better alignment through micro movements.

Depending on the type and severity of your alignment issues, the treatment timeline could last anywhere from several months to a few years.

Veneers

Magic Smiles offers traditional veneers and minimal prep Lumineers. Veneers can address a wide range of dental problems, and the cosmetic treatment delivers drastic and life-changing results. If small, misshapen, discoloured, crooked, or gapped teeth leave you embarrassed to smile, one of our dentists will be happy to explore your candidacy for veneers.

Dental Crowns and Bridges

Missing teeth can impede your ability to eat and speak with ease. For a single missing tooth, you can have a combination of a crown with a dental implant. Receiving a dental implant requires oral surgery and a recovery period of three to six months.

A missing tooth can also be replaced with a dental bridge. The prosthetic can be supported by the two teeth on either side of the missing tooth or through the use of a dental implant. If you have questions about the cost of a dental bridge placement, one of our dentists will be happy to schedule a consultation to explain important aspects of this restorative treatment.

Dentures

Following significant tooth loss or the loss of an entire arch of teeth, you can be fitted with a durable denture that restores beauty and function to your smile. Magic Smiles is proud to offer an in-house prosthetist (denture specialist) who will personally oversee the design, fabrication, and fitting of your partial or full denture.

The prosthetics can be attached to multiple dental implants for superior stability and bone health. We pride ourselves on offering the best dentures at Magic Smiles.

Dental Implants

Dental implants replace lost teeth by using titanium posts that are surgically placed into the patient’s jawbone. Once healed, the implants can support a dental crown, bridge, partial denture, or full denture. Our dental practice will handle every aspect of your dental implant treatment (including surgical placement) so you do not have to be referred to a specialist that you are not familiar with.

X-rays and Imaging

Dental x-rays allow the dentist to look for signs of dental problems that are not outwardly visible. Our surgery offers digital x-rays that use far less radiation than traditional x-rays.

Magic Smiles also uses intraoral scanners that give an accurate optical impression of your teeth. The images are captured by advanced imaging sensors that instantly render a 3D surface model that can be used for a variety of dental procedures.

Our advanced orthopantomogram rotates around a patient’s head to take a detailed panoramic x-ray of the upper and lower jaws. Once the patient is situated, the scan takes around 20 seconds to complete.

Root Canal Therapy

Sometimes the pulp of a tooth becomes infected due to decay or trauma. Left untreated, this type of infection can spread to other areas and cause an abscess. When this occurs, root canal therapy can alleviate discomfort, eliminate bacteria, and preserve your overall oral health. Our dentists at Magic Smiles provide this restorative service at all three of our convenient practice locations.

Mouth Guards and Splints

Oral health issues such as teeth grinding and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) can cause discomfort and lead to even more serious problems. At Magic Smiles, we create custom mouth guards and splints to help alleviate symptoms of these conditions. A custom device protects the teeth by keeping them slightly apart and by placing the lower jaw in a more favorable position. We also provide custom mouth guards for athletes to protect their smiles from damage on the court or field. Custom mouth guards are a non-invasive solution that can significantly enhance your oral health and quality of life.

Sleep Appliances

Sleep apnea is a serious condition that reduces oxygen flow to the brain and the rest of the body. In many cases, a custom sleep appliance from Magic Smiles can reposition the lower jaw and open the airway to alleviate symptoms caused by this disorder, such as snoring, fatigue, and chronic headaches. Custom sleep appliances can be used as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with CPAP.
